Community
Local is Better
While it may seem like an obvious statement, most of us like where we live. We have chosen these cities and the various neighborhoods because we felt a connection to the community. At Pariveda, we took those personal thoughts and feelings and wove them into our corporate strategy. While we often travel to where our clients are located, our intent is to live where we work. Our goal is to travel as a company less than 10 – 15% of the time. Do we travel? Yes. Is there a guarantee of no travel? No. Do we strive to have most of our employees on local clients most of the time? Yes.
This lets us do the work we like while surrounded by the people we love, and to become truly plugged in to our local communities. Having the chance to get involved in non-business activities in our local communities is very important to us. Since we don’t engage a direct sales force, every member of the company is responsible for developing relationships in the business community as well, and in generating new business when a mutually beneficial opportunity appears.
Relationships are Crucial
To us, finding and retaining clients is all about relationships. Our goal is to become a long-term trusted advisor to each of our clients, which means forming a relationship that is ongoing and mutually beneficial. We have developed our internal training, processes, and systems specifically to support our people in building these types of relationships.
One key piece of our approach is that the person who shows up for the sales call will also be responsible for delivering the project. Our clients tell us that this accountability is very important to them and one of the reasons they return to us for multiple engagements.
Giving Back
Every member of our company is expected to give back to his or her community through service. This is an expression of our core value of Servant Leadership and the “others first” mentality that is central to our thinking, and it is a part of the Expectations Framework against which employees are measured for promotion. Our people have a lot of talents and resources, and we believe that using them to benefit others who do not have the same resources is simply the right thing to do.
Much of this community service activity is done by individuals on their own, but Pariveda as a company has formed relationships or sponsored events with a variety of organizations:
- Big Brothers Big Sisters
- Texas Tree Foundation
- Habitat for Humanity
- Lance Armstrong Foundation
