Overview
Sam has a passion for and extensive history of helping organizations align around who they want to become by co-creating a future vision grounded in sound architectures and customer-centered insights. An entrepreneur, attorney, and former civil servant, Sam has experience in the Federal, acquisition, legal, healthcare, not-for-profit, photography, and hospitality industries, among others. Solving problems of all different kinds (people, processes, tools, technology) with a focus on the user and customer experience has been and continues to be his lifelong pursuit.
Experience
Sam started his career as an attorney, moved into Federal civil service and consulting, and found his passion in customer experience design and strategy. Sam previously managed a portfolio of $400 million of Federal contracts, provided solution architecture of cutting-edge AI/NLP in support of inefficient processes, and co-created with a client’s organization a strategic plan for a 300-person, $10 billion/year directorate. Sam’s expertise lies in bringing together high-performing teams to solve complex client problems. He possesses excellent project management, strategic analysis, design, and process skillsets.
Outside of the office
When Sam is not working, he loves to spend time with his son, Theo, cycle and hike, and read science fiction (Asimov is his favorite author). Sam is also an Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver, although he doesn’t dive as much as he’d like to. He also has a passion for film photography and is working on spending more time creating amazing images.
Education and service
Sam holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) for American University’s Kogod School of Business and graduated Cum Laude with a Juris Doctorate (JD) from American University’s Washington College of Law (WCL). He previously graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics and Political Science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Sam is a member of the Maryland Bar Association and a Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI). Sam served as an instructor in the United States Digital Service (USDS) Digital IT Acquisition Professional Training (DITAP) course and looks forward to additional opportunities to teach and mentor others.
