A warm welcome
I was new to the consulting world when I joined Pariveda in 2022. I had spent most of my career in the non-profit world and had no technology background, so I was a bit anxious about how well I would adapt and how quickly. Truthfully, I shouldn’t have been worried. If one thing characterizes the culture here at Pariveda, it’s an eagerness for connection. I’ve rarely felt so welcomed in a new environment. Although I’m based in Los Angeles, I’ve developed relationships with colleagues across the country. It’s a phenomenal testament to how Pariveda encourages and facilitates collaboration – across offices, cohort levels, and projects. I couldn’t do the work I do for JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) without the firm-wide belief that we move forward as a team.
Commitment to collaboration
When I took on my role, I was aware that the JEDI department was newly established, bringing both excitement and challenges. When I think about the amount of work facing us: work to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the operations and systems of the firm, it can sometimes feel as if the challenges outweigh anything else. Making lasting change to deep-seated practices and beliefs takes a consistent and shared effort. I wasn’t here long before I realized that that’s how everything is done at Pariveda: with shared effort. From the senior leadership to the newest college hires, people here are serious about their commitment to collaboration. It’s one of the fundamental values that shapes our culture.
“There’s an amazing vibrancy and dynamic energy to the diversity here. That’s such a precious, rare commodity – particularly when it’s coupled with the kind of inclusion we’re all working toward. Whatever your cultural background or ability, there is a network here ready to build community and provide tangible resources.”
Building a diverse community
There’s an amazing vibrancy and dynamic energy to the diversity here. That’s such a precious, rare commodity – particularly when it’s coupled with the kind of inclusion we’re all working toward. Whatever your cultural background or ability, there is a network here ready to build community and provide tangible resources. I’m honored to be part of some of the groups affecting change at Pariveda: Esprit de Femme, the Black Fins Circle, PRIDE, and Fins with Disabilities. As a person whose identity exists at the intersection of multiple categories, I couldn’t succeed in an environment where my role is questioned. Being a part of these incredible ERGs means that I never have to walk my professional and personal path alone. It’s because I am so grateful for the community that I’ve found here that I started JEDI Office Hours, a regular opportunity for anyone to join a conversation and find community themselves. I love being part of the spirit of connection at Pariveda.
