Overview
As Chief Financial Officer of Pariveda Solutions, Inc., Mr. Kupferschmid plays a major role in working closely with the executive team to creatively design growth opportunities for the future. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his experience in multiple industries such as air and ground transportation, healthcare, technology, real estate, and consulting.
Experience
Mr. Kupferschmid has 30 years of experience in finance and accounting with public and private companies in a variety of industries including air and ground transportation, healthcare, technology, real estate, and consulting. He has led the finance and IT organizations for large subsidiaries of Fortune 500 companies, start-up and early-stage companies as well as companies experiencing financial and strategic challenges. Mr. Kupferschmid has extensive experience in debt, equity, and lease financing transactions and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining Pariveda Solutions, Mr. Kupferschmid was Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Omniflight Helicopters, Inc., a private-equity-owned air ambulance company, where he assisted in re-starting the company’s growth and helped lead the successful sale of the company to a publicly-traded competitor. Previously, he was CFO of Kitty Hawk, Inc., a publicly-traded air and ground cargo company, and served as a financial consultant to private equity and hedge funds as well as various early-stage and mid-market companies. He also served as Director of Strategic Finance at Northwest Airlines where he was responsible for developing and evaluating projects for maximizing shareholder value.
Outside of the office
James is a lifelong runner with a personal goal of running a marathon on every continent. He also enjoys hiking in the mountains, music, and working outdoors. He has been married to Lynn for over 17 years and has two daughters.
Education and service
Mr. Kupferschmid graduated from Indiana University – Bloomington with a BS in Accounting and received a MA in Economics from the University of Texas – Arlington. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Texas and a Certified Treasury Professional. Mr. Kupferschmid serves on the advisory board for Microengineered Metals, Inc., a company developing technology for use in the super polishing of aluminum mirrors. He provides volunteer services to Hearts and Souls, a non-profit organization that provides advanced pediatric cardiac care in Mongolia and other outreach locations.
