Increase engagement with visitors at the largest zoo in Texas to help them maintain a consistent visitor base, increase activity, and spread awareness of the zoo’s conservation efforts.
Result
Pariveda’s interns reimagined the Dallas Zoo’s visitor experience by developing a mobile gaming experience that would send visitors on unique quests across the zoo and reward their progress.
Impact
Our interns delivered a user-friendly portal for managing animal information, providing park guests with an interactive experience, and providing the zoo with location-based analytics and insights into their most popular attractions.
The Dallas Zoo is the oldest and largest zoo in Texas with 106 acres, over 2,000 animals, and an annual attendance of over 1.2 million visitors.
Founded in 1888 with just two deer and two mountain lions, the Dallas Zoo is on a mission to engage people and save wildlife. By providing their guests with real-world opportunities to make memorable connections with wildlife and supplementing their experience with conservation messaging, the Dallas Zoo aims to inspire and empower visitors to take action on behalf of wildlife in Texas and around the world.
The Challenge
Reimagining the visitor experience at the oldest zoo in Texas through an engaging mobile application.
Despite their consistent growth, the Dallas Zoo was struggling to maintain a consistent visitor base with only ~10% of their guests visiting the zoo more than once a year. The Dallas Zoo partnered with Pariveda to improve the engagement of their guests by providing a more interactive way to explore the zoo. The Pariveda Dallas interns focused on creating a mobile application that would drive more interaction between the animals and each visitor.
The Result
How Pariveda interns were able to develop a mobile application that would guide guests:
- The application allowed for a "choose your own adventure" approach, making each guest experience unique.
- Each quest would require the user to visit certain animals, spend time at the enclosure interacting with the animal, and answering trivia questions about what they learned.
- The user would then be rewarded with points for each activity, which would allow them to level up and progress on their journey to becoming a “master zookeeper.”
The Impact
Pariveda interns delivered a user-friendly mobile game that increased visitor engagement and increased guests’ awareness of the zoo’s conservation mission.
