A $121 billion multinational supermarket chain, GroceryCo*, employs 25,000 people across over 10,000 stores in 20 countries.
To expand its service reach via ecommerce, GroceryCo partnered with a third-party online delivery service. But manual content aggregation caused inefficiencies and inaccuracies in product inventory management, jeopardizing sales and the company’s ability to scale the service across all stores.
The Challenge

GroceryCo’s process for outputting product availability and data to a third-party online delivery partner was manual and inefficient. Product availability and pricing updates were slow and intensive auditing was necessary to ensure accuracy. The ecommerce team struggled to maintain product data quality and roll out their manual solution across the store portfolio.
GroceryCo hired Pariveda to help them develop a digital content aggregation system to effectively manage product availability, details, and price and scale ecommerce delivery nationally.
The Result
How Pariveda refocused the ecommerce team away from cumbersome manual processes:
- Leveraged Human Centered Design workshops to design and develop a custom web application that focused on the ecommerce team's users.
- Implemented responsive dashboards to streamline user workflows and automate batch processes to merge information from existing dependent systems with user-controlled data to output high-quality product information.
- Increased automation to allow the application to process all divisions and stores and output validated and formatted data daily to the third-party delivery partner.
The Impact
Our solution allowed GroceryCo to scale the online business to nearly all stores nationwide and refocused the ecommerce team on higher-value business initiatives. Numerous updates, including adding real-time inventory and creating an internal pattern for uniquely identifying products, expanded our client’s flexibility and control over product data.
Pariveda’s custom software prepared GroceryCo to respond quickly to changing market conditions to drive long-term success.
