Overview
As Sustena’s Creative Director, Ryan distills complex stories to their essence, enabling companies to express who they are and where they are headed. Through the power of design, Ryan simplifies narratives, enhances clarity, and helps brands become visually distinctive. He’s a systems thinker who believes the most effective brands are simple, flexible, and versatile, so they work across all media.
Ryan is an expert in logo development, visual identity systems, brand architecture, and brand guidelines. He’s developed 360-degree visual identity programs for several world-class brands, ranging from boutique companies to Fortune 500 conglomerates.
Experience
At Sustena, Ryan has designed award-winning brand identities for Bridgeway, Cadiz, Xactus, Gener8, and GBTA. He’s also developed brands for Clarest Health, RealTime, LegalSifter, Bonsai, and Randall Reilly. Before joining Sustena, Ryan designed visual brands and campaigns for American Express, Abbott Laboratories, and T. Rowe Price.
Ryan served on the Board of Judges for the Summit Creative Awards, honoring the best design, video, advertising, interactive, and social marketing from creative agencies worldwide.
Ryan’s work has received multiple creative-industry awards, including Transform Awards, North America, MarCom Awards, and Summit Creative Awards.
Outside of the office
Outside the office, Ryan enjoys traveling with his wife, Angela. A few of their favorite destinations include Thailand, Australia, Taiwan, Costa Rica, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Italy, and Iceland.Â
Education and service
Ryan holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design. Â
